Welcome to our newly launched UNI Opera webpage!  Enjoy browsing our site and let us know if there are things you'd like to see on our page.

UNI Opera has a long legacy, producing fully staged and costumed productions each year since 1900.  The comic opera "Robin Hood" by was put on by The Aristotelian Literary Society in 1900, making UNI Opera is one of the oldest opera programs in our state.  We have a long list of graduates from the UNI School of Music voice and opera program who have gone on to have successful careers in opera.  Among these are Nicolle Foland, soprano (BM 1991, MM 1993), Renée Rapier, mezzo-soprano (BM 2009, MM 2011), Nicole Birkland, mezzo-soprano (BM 2001, MM 2006), Kyle Albertson, baritone (BM 2002), and Suzanne Henrix, mezzo-soprano (BMed 2001, MM 2006). Read more about alumni elsewhere on our site.

We pride ourselves in being a program that is successful because of the participation of a mixture of undergraduate music majors and non-majors and graduate voice students.  When students are interested in opera, we understand the educational value to them in whatever field they will pursue.  We are stronger because of our inclusive approach to participation.  Additionally, new collaborations with the dance program and the theatre department have rejuvenated our creativity and created a professional atmosphere in which students participate in the highly collaborative process of bringing an opera to the stage.

Join us for our Fall semester events. On November 14 and 15 we will present our Fall opera in Bengtson Auditorium. Both productions supply important learning experiences for our students as they grow into young artists. Please consider donating to the UNI Opera Fund to help support our outstanding students and our production needs.
